to the beach and back again...

I was hoping to add a few posts previous to this about the visit from Elder Teixiera for the youth session of Stake conference, of Myrtle Beach, the winding down of summer season, the start of school for Dave, and yet they have all passed by without an utterance of them on my newly found journal/news broadcast. As always, I look forward to the future, but find it almost painful to realize how much time has passed, and yet again, I failed to record it. So, here is where I will try my best to remember.

Elder Teixeira's most memorable lessons:
When your on your way "home" to Germany after taking care of Church business in Austria, and there is a sudden Soviet invasion that sends the Czech on a level 100,000 emergency that creates road blocks and havoc galore, try your best to drive through cornfields, make agreements with trustworthy, strangers, offer up riduculous amounts of money in exchange for assistance, plead with uniformed men to let you through, but all the while, Pray. When every path you've tried and you've tried every path ends up at a line of machine gun carrying fanatics, Pray. When you are told your firstborn son that is in your wife's arms is not yours and will not be permitted to take him with you, Pray. And all will be well... at least, all will be as intended.

Myrtle Beach:
The first REAL dajbeach vacation! It was such a blast, and like I like to say, "Officially." It was so much fun and relaxing. Being near the beach is therapy, for certain. Her are some of my prized pictures from our week of fun:

So we spent a lot of time at the beach, we got burnt, we ate very well thanks to Julie's and Dave's cooking techniques, we scrapbooked and played some games. And we survived a so called Tropical Storm Hanna. But the Great Blackout of 2008 was much worse.

Well that's it for my lunch breack. I hope to get back with you all soon.

Why don't we start this thing... (again)

...Since it's the thing to do.

I had a blog... then it got lost. So I started another one... and it was misplaced in the shuffle of life.

Hopefully, this third time will be the charm and will act as the journal to the Beach life. We aren't too interesting, but perhaps our insight to daily mundane tasks will in turn teach and inspire others. That's all I can hope for, right?

Well, we are: Dave, Abby and Jonah. Dave and I wed four years ago today, August 21, 2008. Jonah is turning 3 this Sunday, August 24th. We're living in Fairfield, Ohio - our most favorite place to live thus far.

Dave is in school at Wright State University in Dayton, Oh. He is working on a Bachelor's in International Studies: Diplomacy with a Minor in Chinese. He also speaks Korean after serving a two-year mission there for our church, The Chruch of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He is serving as the 2nd Counselor in the Elders Quorum in our ward at church. He also works at the Cincinnati Country Club on a part-time basis. In his down time, enjoys sports of any kind and loves to eat vanilla bean ice cream sundaes on Sunday with the family.

I, the narrator of this blog am Abby. I define myself as a mom, who has spent her entire mom-hood in school, as an athlete, or working, but mostly a mixture of all three. Last Spring, I graduated from University of Cincinnati with an HR degree. I also graduated as a Varsity athlete from Women's Rowing, more on rowing later... After graduating, I began work as a contractor at GE in the Recruiting CoE and I have been here ever since. I serve as the 2nd Counselor in Young Womens at church. I love to create, be it with fabrics, threads, paints, sticks, you name it and I'll throw something together. I also love any carbs and/or marinara, as well as chocolate of any kind.

Jonah, the son, is rambunctious and loveable. We call him, "Our Little Retirement Plan" seeing how he is obsessed with sports, and has been since he could hold his head up to watch. He is currently learning his letters and some of life's most important rules, like: not to wake a napping mommy, not to knock over glass objects while playing football - indoors, and to always drink when he's thirsty and eat when he's hungry.

Together, we love to go to the park and play frisbee, golf, baseball, soccer, or any game. We also love to watch movies together with homemade popcorn. We try to spend every possible moment together, because we just can't get enough.

I hope to envelope this blog with news, photos, travellogs (they're appropriate here) and insights to the mind of your average American family.
